A broken electric gate and burned out water heater aren't the usual source for miracles. But who am I to question a miracle regardless of its size, shape, or magnitude.
And so the story of my little miracle begins . . .
The electric gate was broken and the water heater was nearly dead, both things I am capable of fixing, at least eventually, although it could take many hours, and in this case probably days. And probably enough trips to Home Depot to accrue frequent flyer mileage for all of the trips I usually have to make back and forth to get the right part and advice from the resident Home Depot expert.
So, starting with the electric gate. It wouldn't close or open the way it was supposed to. My good wife and I had been out in the bitter cold for more than two hours trying to get it to open and close properly. The manual for solving such problems just wasn't helping. Plus, it was getting dark and we were about to give up. There was no end or solution in sight and it very well could have been a very long night.
Then the miracle began with the appearance of our son Sebastian, a talented an gifted graphic artist, who lives four hours to the north of us, and who usually comes with an agenda of playing with his kids out in nature, usually biking, or hiking, or skiing, and such. With his arrival we probably were going to drop everything and just enjoy his visit. However, he immediately came over to the electric gate and asked what the problem was, which I explained, to which he looked at the gates panel board and said it was an easy fix and in less than ten minutes fixed the gate, doing so without even looking at the manual and just using his intellect and observation skills. This little miracle was especially amazing in that in the past even the installer of the gate was never able to get it just right and our son was able to fix the glitch in just a few minutes/
But then the miracle continued when Seb, short for Sebastian announced that he had no agenda and was visiting. Then, upon learning that the water heater was in the throws of death immediately advised that he was "here to help." And so to make the story short, Seb helped to install a new water heater, which was a job that I could have done, but over a way longer period of time, including probably calling a plumber because of my lack of knowledge on such subject. Long and short of it, in less than seven hours the new water heater was installed and up and running without having to call a plumber, which by the way are all backed up for at least a week or more.
And that is my story of the little, yet to me huge, miracle in my life this past week, causing me to be so grateful for our kind and thoughtful son, and to God for helping to make it all happen. Indeed, be part of a miracle in my life.
