Driving the Lonely Road

Driving a lonely road
Thinking about my life
Following the road
With no goal in sight
With no map to follow
My destination unknown
Wondering where I'm going
And if my future will be bright

Now some might say I'm lost
Which could be the truth
But I'm sure I'll find my way
As I fancy myself a sleuth
So lost or not I go forward
I don't want to look back
I'll go where the road leads
Just give me a little slack

The future is everything
A true adventure to be sure
The past holds good and bad
But your future can be pure
Looking back just obscures
Having faith in the future
And a prayerful heart
Will help me to endure

So down the lonely road I go
Moving straight ahead
Not knowing if I'll win
Or even just place or show
But knowing I will arrive
With all my ducks lined up
Full of faith, going forward
And moving straight ahead

So, never look back
The past can't be changed
There is no future in the past
Have faith in God
And talk to Him in prayer
And lost you will never be
He will loosen your heavy load
As you drive the lonely road
