Over the River and Through the Woods

Over the river and through the woods
Off to be with our children we go
Our car knows the way
To take us away
All the way
To our children's home
And so this is what parents do
Once their children are grown and gone
Especially if the parents want to spend time
With their children during the holidays
And their children have children
With their own traditions
These are the perils
Of getting old
Once the children are grown and gone
And the only way to ever see them
Is to take the car for a drive
Over the river and through the woods
