The Frustration of a Pencil Out of Lead

I don't like mechanical pencils
Because they are usually out of lead
And I find it frustrating, to say the least
But there is something even more frustrating
And that is when my "pencil" seems to run out of lead
Which usually happens at night when I'm in bed
Feeling that i am in the mood for some loving
Yet, the feeling is mostly in my mind
While my "pencil" is . . .
Well, you get the picture
Of a pencil out of lead
Now that is frustrating!

A Heavy Heart or a Heavy Heart

My heart feels heavy today
Not like sadness or nostalgia
I mean it really feels heavy
As in there being a funny feeling
Maybe a not so very funny feeling
In my chest  . . .
No pain, just a heavy feeling
Hmm . . . it could be old age
Or simply nothing at all
Except for last night's meal
Or it could be a precursor
Of something really bad
But I don't know . . .

A Salute to Inn Keepers One and All

Running a Bed & Breakfast
Has never been on my Bucket List
And probably will never be
Yet, moving to a popular place
Makes for frequent visitors
For both friends and family
Who are either just passing through
Going from one place to another
Or see our town as a destination
So, friends and family are often here
At our unofficial Bed & Breakfast
Each of them bringing with them
A special dynamic and insight
Into how visitors behave
When in a home not of their own
Making me to wonder their thoughts
Some guest are fastidious and grateful
Other are curiously demanding
Not in the demanding sort of way
Rather just taking hospitality for granted
Many of the guests leave their room
And the adjoining bathrooms spotless
Just they way they were when they arrived
While others leave a mess of sorts behind
Leaving me to contemplate and appreciate
What people in the hospitality business
Must put up with on a daily basis
So to those who run and manage
Motel, Hotels, and Bed & Breakfasts
And all of those Inn Keepers
I salute and honor each of you
Thanking you for all you do
Thank You!

The Coming Societal Storm

Thursday evening and all is calm
But could this be just the lull before the storm?
Because it seems that a storm is coming
One that will cause each of us to mourn
Coming with devastation that threatens us all
But not a storm of Natures making
Rather a storm made by evil men
A storm that could ravage our nation
An evil conspired in the depths Satan's den
By the most secret of combinations
To come forth and ruin our fragile calm
A calm that has lulled us to a false security
That will suddenly and rudely awaken us all
Causing a panic among those not prepared
As devastation and chaos reign sumpreme
Our cities and streets no longer safe
While many of us huddle behind closed doors
Not knowing what to do or how to respond
Worrying about our future as a country
And worrying about our loved ones
As the societal storm rages on
Leaving us wishing it were Mother Nature
Rather than the evil designs of Satin and men

The Passing of a Neighbor

A neighbor recently passed away
Sadly, he is no longer among the living
He was a young man and a family man
Loved by all, but especially his family
And now is he gone, missed by all
Leaving a void in the neighborhood
And in each of all of our hearts
He will be sorely missed by one and all
Gone, yet will always be remembered . . .
