A Welcome Overcast

A welcome overcast
Shrouds the day
Which in the Southwest
Is quite unusual
But a welcome change
From the usual
Blistering days
That are so common
In the desert Southwest
Yes, a welcome overcast!

Unexpected Hostility

As the evening ended
Your words became harsh
And you bristled in anger
Because I failed to agree
About current events
And their impact on us
But I calmly sat there
Finally calling you
On your demeanor
And intemperance
Which was not becoming
But you ranted on
Finally leaving the room
Where I remained seated
Just trying to digest it all
Then, after fifteen minutes
i put on my pajamas
And came to bed
After which you rolled over
Puckered your lips
And kissed me goodnight
Leaving me totally puzzled
About all that had transpired
Wondering if you meant
In your venomous tirade
And wondering even more
If indeed you love me
As I tried to get some sleep
And then tossed and turned
In a fitful sleep that never was
And leaving me in the morning
With troubled thoughts
About your surprising hostility . .
